People problems in strategy execution

People problems in strategy execution
When we speak to key business leaders, one standard question we pop is about their ‘biggest challenge’. A vast majority say strategy execution. They describe it as a problem in drilling-down, and talk about ‘transmission loss’ between each level of management.

We explored the problem, and found that most companies take good care of process capabilities. However the ‘people’ side of strategy execution often lies neglected – primarily because a practical solution wasn’t readily available. We identified 5 major reasons for this strategy-execution gap.

This document details these 5 reasons, and also sets out ways in which you can identify them.

1. Functional Silos
2. Always on code-red
3. Lack of customer’s perspective
4. Little visibility to financial impact
5. Escalations hit strategic initiatives
